Building on gene knockout, we further offer precision gene editing services including knock-in, site-directed mutagenesis, tag insertion (such as GFP/Flag/HA fusion), and conditional knockout (Cre-loxP), covering both cell and model animal levels.
When you need to precisely introduce a mutation or knock in a tag in a cell or animal model — not just perform a simple gene knockout — precision gene editing is the core technology for achieving that goal — answering "how do you make exactly the change you want, at a specific location in the genome."
Precision editing relies on the homology-directed repair (HDR) mechanism — while Cas9 cuts to create a DSB, a homologous template DNA carrying the intended change (an ssODN or targeting vector) is provided as a reference for repair, achieving a precise base substitution or site-specific insertion of an exogenous sequence. Compared with NHEJ, HDR editing is precise and controllable but less efficient, requiring optimization of the sgRNA site and donor design.
