We offer phenotypic functional assays including cell proliferation (CCK-8/MTT), wound healing (migration), Transwell (migration/invasion), and colony formation, commonly paired with overexpression/knockdown models to verify gene function.
Once you’ve changed the expression of a gene, when you want to know exactly what effect that change had on the cell’s "behavior" (proliferation, migration, invasion, etc.), cell function assays provide direct phenotypic evidence — answering "after this gene changed, did the cell’s behavior actually change."
Proliferation assays measure cell viability by detecting a metabolic product of living cells (such as the formazan produced in the CCK-8 assay); wound healing and Transwell assays evaluate migration/invasion by observing a cell’s ability to cross a scratch wound or migrate through a microporous membrane; colony formation evaluates proliferative and tumorigenic potential by a single cell’s ability to grow into a colony.
